About this plant
Salvia ‘Royal Bumble’ is a compact, bushy perennial or sub-shrub celebrated for its intense scarlet-red flowers that appear from late spring well into autumn. The blooms are held above dark green foliage, creating a vibrant contrast that attracts bees, butterflies and other pollinators. With a tidy growth habit and excellent repeat flowering, this salvia is ideal for mixed borders, wildlife gardens, and patio pots. It also offers good drought tolerance once established, making it suitable for sunnier spots in the garden.

Planting guide
Plant in a sunny, sheltered spot with well-drained soil. Space plants about 30–45cm apart to allow for airflow and growth. Excellent in groups for a mass of colour or interspersed among other perennials for contrast.
Care tips
Trim back faded flower stems regularly to encourage fresh blooms and maintain a neat shape. In spring, prune lightly to promote bushy growth. Feed with a balanced fertiliser in early spring and again in mid-summer for best results.
Winter care
In milder regions, Salvia ‘Royal Bumble’ can overwinter outdoors with a protective mulch. In colder areas, consider lifting and overwintering in a frost-free greenhouse or providing fleece protection during hard frosts.
