Planting guide

Plant with the crown 5–8cm below soil level to prevent wilt. Ensure the base is shaded, and provide a trellis or support for climbing. Water well after planting and during dry periods.

Care tips

Prune lightly in February to shape and encourage flowering. Feed with a high-potassium fertiliser after the first flush. Keep roots cool with mulch or ground cover.

Winter care

Fully hardy. Prune lightly in late winter or early spring (Group 2), just above a pair of strong buds. Mulch around the base to protect roots and retain moisture.
