Planting guide

Plant in spring or early autumn in well-drained but moisture-retentive soil. Choose a sheltered spot away from strong winds. Water well after planting and regularly during the first growing season to help establish strong roots.

Care tips

Water during dry spells, especially in the first few years. Remove any damaged or old leaves in spring to keep the plant tidy. Feed with a balanced fertiliser in spring for healthy growth.

Winter care

Protect from cold, drying winds and hard frost, especially when young or grown in containers. Mulch around the base in late autumn to insulate roots and move potted plants to a sheltered spot if severe frost is forecast.
