Planting guide

Plant in spring or early autumn in well-drained soil in a sunny spot. Avoid overly rich or heavy soils to prevent stems becoming floppy. Water well during establishment, then allow soil to dry slightly between watering once established.

Care tips

Deadhead regularly to encourage repeat flowering. Divide clumps every few years in spring to maintain vigour and shape. Avoid waterlogged soil, particularly in winter.

Winter care

Cut back faded stems in late autumn or leave seed heads in place for winter interest and trim in early spring. Ensure soil drains freely over winter to protect the crown from rot. Apply a light mulch in colder areas if needed.
