Planting guide

Plant in spring or autumn in fertile, moisture-retentive soil. It thrives in full sun or partial shade. Water well during dry spells, especially in its first year. Allow space for its clump to develop naturally.

Care tips

Divide every few years in spring to rejuvenate the clump. Keep soil consistently moist for best flowering. Remove faded flower spikes to encourage continued blooming.

Winter care

Cut back spent stems to ground level in late autumn or late winter. Apply a mulch of compost or well-rotted manure around the crown to protect roots and improve soil structure.
