Why we like this plant
Tulip 'Queen of Night' is a legendary cultivar cherished for its moody, near-black colour and commanding presence. It adds depth and contrast to paler spring blooms, and works especially well alongside white, soft pink, or rich orange tulips. Its silky petals catch the light beautifully, revealing subtle undertones of plum and burgundy. This tulip lends a sophisticated air to borders and containers alike, and remains a favourite among floral designers for its rich, velvety finish.
Planting guide
Plant in autumn, 15 cm deep and 10 to 12 cm apart, in well-drained, fertile soil with full sun.
Care tips
Deadhead promptly after flowering to conserve energy. Allow foliage to die back naturally to feed the bulb. In good conditions, 'Queen of Night' will return year after year. Lift bulbs only if soil is heavy or waterlogged.
