Planting guide
Plant in spring or early autumn in moisture-retentive but well-drained soil. Dig in plenty of organic matter before planting and position so the crown sits just at soil level. Water well after planting and keep consistently moist during the growing season, particularly in dry spells.
Care tips
Water regularly during dry periods, especially in sunnier positions. Protect young growth from slugs and snails in spring. Divide congested clumps in early spring every few years to maintain vigour.
Winter care
Allow foliage to die back naturally in autumn, then cut down once fully collapsed. Apply a light mulch of compost or well-rotted manure to protect the crown and enrich the soil. Ensure good drainage over winter to prevent rot.
