Planting guide
Plant in spring or early autumn in free-draining soil. Improve heavy ground with grit or sand and choose a sunny, sheltered spot. Avoid planting too deeply and water sparingly once established.
Care tips
Trim lightly after flowering to maintain shape and prevent woodiness. Do not cut into old, woody stems. Feed sparingly, as too much fertiliser reduces flavour and scent.
Winter care
Generally hardy but dislikes winter wet. Ensure excellent drainage, especially in heavy soils or containers. In cold, exposed areas, protect plants with fleece during prolonged frost.
