Why we like this plant
Tulip 'Dee Jay Parrot' has all the panache of a carnival dancer, its large blooms unfurling in a joyful riot of ruffles and streaks. The bold red colouring, softened and enlivened by ivory and green accents, gives this tulip remarkable texture and movement, even in still air. It's a natural companion to other flamboyant late tulips or dramatic dark varieties, and shines when planted in bold groups or theatrical containers. In flower arrangements, it brings life and personality to any setting.
Planting guide
Plant in autumn, 15 cm deep and 10 to 12 cm apart, in fertile, well-drained soil with full sun exposure.
Care tips
Remove spent blooms promptly, and allow foliage to die back fully. In light, well-drained soils, 'Dee Jay Parrot' may return for several seasons. Lift bulbs in summer where drainage is poor, and store in a cool, dry place.
