    • Why we like this plant

Veronicastrum 'Album' brings height, grace, and elegance to mixed borders and wildlife-friendly gardens. Its pure white blooms pair beautifully with ornamental grasses and late-season perennials.

    • About this plant

Veronicastrum virginicum 'Album' is a striking, upright perennial that brings graceful vertical accents to late-summer borders. Its tall, slender stems are topped with tapering spires of small, starry white flowers, which bloom in succession to create a long-lasting display. The plant's whorled leaves form tiered layers up the stem, giving it a refined, architectural look even before flowering. Beloved by bees and other pollinators, this variety is ideal for prairie-style gardens, naturalistic planting, and as a contrast to softer, rounded flower forms.

Plant in moist, well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Space 60–75cm apart to allow airflow and avoid overcrowding. Best grouped in threes or more for impact.

    Care tips

Provide support in windy spots, as the tall stems can flop. Deadhead faded blooms to maintain tidiness, or leave seedheads for winter structure. Cut back to the base in autumn or early spring.

    Winter care

Very hardy in UK climates. Leave stems standing over winter for architectural interest and to support wildlife, then cut down in spring.
