Planting guide
Plant in spring after the risk of frost has passed. Choose a sunny, sheltered spot with free-draining soil. Water well after planting and add grit to heavier soils to improve drainage.
Care tips
Deadhead regularly to encourage more flowers. Water during dry spells in the first season, then keep on the drier side once established. Cut back in spring when new growth appears.
Winter care
Protect from hard frost. In milder areas, mulch the crown well and leave top growth in place until spring. In colder gardens, lift and overwinter in a frost-free greenhouse or grow in a pot and move under cover.
