Planting guide

Plant in autumn or spring into fertile, well-drained soil. Choose a sunny position for the best flowering, dig in compost before planting and water well while it establishes. In pots, use a good quality loam-based compost and ensure free drainage.

Care tips

Water regularly during the first growing season and during dry spells if grown in a container. Lightly prune after flowering to keep the shape neat and remove faded flower heads. Avoid heavy pruning in winter, as this can reduce the next spring’s flowers.

Winter care

Fully hardy in most UK gardens. Little winter care is needed beyond removing fallen leaves and keeping container-grown plants from becoming waterlogged.
