  • Why we like this plant

Crocus 'Barr’s Purple' enchants with its intense, velvety blooms that add a rich splash of colour to the first flowers of the year. Its bold yet elegant presence pairs well with lighter-hued spring bulbs, creating a striking contrast that lifts the garden’s early palette. Perfect for natural groupings or formal borders, it brings depth and drama to spring displays.

Planting guide

Plant corms in autumn, 7 to 10 cm deep and 5 to 7 cm apart, in well-drained soil with full sun or partial shade.

Care tips

Allow the foliage to die back naturally after flowering to feed the corm for next year. Divide clumps every few years to maintain healthy growth and prevent overcrowding.
