Planting & care

Planting guide
Plant in spring in fertile, well-drained soil in a sunny, sheltered position. Agapanthus flower best when slightly root restricted, making them excellent for containers. Water regularly while establishing.
Care tips
Feed with a balanced fertiliser in spring and summer for strong flowering. Remove faded flower stems to keep the plant tidy and divide congested clumps every few years.
Winter care
In colder areas, protect the crown with a dry mulch through winter. Container-grown plants should be moved to a sheltered spot and kept relatively dry during prolonged frost.
