Armeria maritima Dark Pink

Armeria maritima, better known as thrift or sea pink, is a compact evergreen perennial that forms neat cushions of fine, grass-like foliage. This selection produces round heads of dark pink flowers on slender stems from late spring into summer. A UK native of cliffs and coastlines, it copes well with wind, salt and dry, poor soil, and the flowers are visited by bees and butterflies.

Thrift is one of the easiest plants for a hot, dry spot. The cushions stay green all winter, it needs almost no attention, and the flowers bring bees to the front of the border. It also works well in pots and gravel gardens.
