Osteospermum 'Tresco Purple'

Osteospermum 'Tresco Purple' is a low, spreading evergreen perennial that forms a mat of glossy green leaves. From early summer until the first frosts it's covered in deep magenta-purple daisy flowers with dark centres, which open fully in sunshine. It's one of the hardier osteospermums and makes good ground cover at the front of a border, in gravel or spilling over the edge of a pot. The flowers are visited by bees and butterflies.

It flowers for months with very little attention and copes well with heat and dry spells once settled. The colour is strong without being harsh, and it works well with blues, silvers and soft yellows. A good plant for sunny spots where the soil is on the poor side.
