Pittosporum tenuifolium 'Elizabeth'

Pittosporum tenuifolium 'Elizabeth' is an evergreen shrub with wavy, grey-green leaves edged in cream, which flush pink in colder weather. The pale foliage stands out well against its dark stems. In late spring and early summer it produces small, deep purple flowers with a sweet, honey-like scent. It can be grown as a specimen shrub, clipped into shape, or planted as an informal hedge or screen, and the stems are popular with florists for cutting.

'Elizabeth' brightens a border all year without looking too loud. The pink tones come through most in winter, just when the garden needs colour, and the scent from the tiny flowers in May is a bonus. It clips well, so it's easy to keep to the size you want.
